Gheorghe Zamfir, one of our best known romanian artists in the international music arena , through his music carries away the romanian traditions, our deep connection and love for nature, and above all, the true spirit of our nation.
I lived my childhood in the land of Transylvania, an amazing place which I want to share with you all, and maybe, just maybe, try to make you overcome the jaundices that are cast upon this land, this country, its people....

ReplyDeleteSo different from what i imagined!
...by the way love the music too!
All I can say is that Dracula for us is a real pride, he was a real ruler and had a very strong ,courageous character. He is called Vlad the Impaler. His Romanian surname Drăculea (also spelled "Drakulya"), by which Vlad was referred to in several documents, means "son of the dragon", in reference to his father, Vlad Dracul, who received that moniker from his subjects because he had joined the Order of the Dragon. Dracul, from the Latin word Draco, meaning "dragon", is derived from the Greek word Δράκων (Dracon). In Romanian, on the other hand, Drac simply means devil.
ReplyDeleteHis post-mortem moniker of "Țepeș" ("Impaler") originated in his killing opponents by impalement. In Turkish, he was known as "Kazıklı Voyvoda" (pronounced [kɑzɯkˈɫɯ]) which means "Impaler Prince".
During his life Vlad wrote his name in Latin documents as Wladislaus Dragwlya or Drakwlya.
